Healthy Popcorn – Easy and Inexpensive

Healthy Popcorn

I’m a big snack person, which doesn’t work well for my waistline at all. Sweets are not my problem, I can stay away from chocolate no problem, it’s the salty snacks like chips, I’m always reaching for. With that said I’m always searching for great healthy snacks I can munch on because I can’t afford all the calories chips have. Popcorn is one of my favourites, because it’s a healthier snack option. I could honestly eat healthy popcorn for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Crawling under my blanket to watch a movie on a chilly winter night  I came across this healthy, super easy and inexpensive way to make popcorn.

You can buy a bag of kernels at your local grocery store for less than 1 bag of movie popcorn, and get about ten times as much. I’m never making popcorn any other way again.

What you will need:

  1. All-Natural popcorn kernels
  2. Unsalted butter
  3. Microwave-safe bowl
  4. Microwave safe plate

Pour kernels into your bowl ( I don’t measure, just cover the bottom of the bowl )Healthy Popcorn

Grab your stick of butter and place on your plate. Add as much or as little as you want, but remember this is supposed to be a healthy snack so don’t go wild :)Healthy Popcorn

Place your plate on top of your bowl and put into microwave. Cook for about 3 minutes or so depending on the wattage. The plate on top will keep your popcorn from popping everywhere :).

When your kernels have popped remove from microwave ( bowl will be hot, I recommend using oven mitts or a towel )

Take your plate off your bowl and drizzle butter over popcorn. Add a little salt as well and BAM!
